In the spring of 2009, Jennifer Haywood and her family visited Great Smoky Mountains National Park, where their children took part in the Junior Ranger program. The experience sparked their curiosity and showed the family how much fun learning about nature and national parks could be.
Before leaving the park, the family visited a gift shop looking for a souvenir and realized there was an opportunity to continue that experience at home. On the drive back to Michigan, they began creating their own board game together. The very first version was sketched in the backseat by their 8-year-old daughter.
That simple family idea grew into Jr. RangerLand—a collection of games, puzzles, books, art kits, and other outdoor educational products created to help children learn, play, and explore. Today, Jr. RangerLand and its sister company, Junior Ranger Gear, continue to inspire young explorers through fun products rooted in the wonder of the outdoors.
